Stephen Morgan MP visits The Portsmouth Academy as schools return to face-to-face learning
Stephen Morgan MP visits The Portsmouth Academy as he begins his physical visits back in schools again since lockdown. Schools and education are a priority for Stephen so he has been communicating with the local schools to see how the back-to-school approach is getting on. A former Newbridge Junior pupil himself, Stephen Morgan is a frequent visitor of our Thinking Academy Schools in Portsmouth.
TPA’s principal Mrs Grey was thrilled to be able to share with Stephen the Aspire building, the school’s £5.3m project. The hugely anticipated facility includes a recording studio, food tech, art and music classrooms and performance space.
The project also saw updates to the sports facilities and an inclusive provision – The Student Engagement Department.
Mrs Rachel Grey, Principal at The Portsmouth Academy said:
“It was lovely to have Stephen Morgan MP visit TPA last week. There was a real buzz of excitement in the air as our students begin to get back on track with face-to-face learning. I was proud to show Stephen our newly finished Aspire Building, and talk with him about how our investment in the arts is supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing.”
Mr Stephen Morgan, MP said:
“It was a pleasure to visit the new building at The Portsmouth Academy and see the students’ learning in such a supportive environment, both in terms of the building and the staff within it. I could tell from my visit how hard all the staff have been working to help their students feel safe and cared for in this unprecedented time. I wish them all the best with their ongoing work getting the students ‘back on track’ and would like to take this opportunity to thank the staffing team at The Portsmouth Academy for all their hard work that supports both their students and our wider community.”
