Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

As a Trust we took part in Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW). Everyone has mental health, and this awareness week served as a driver to further encourage all the teams across our Trust to acknowledge mental health, to know that it means something to everyone, and that it’s okay not to be okay. We want our Trust family to feel empowered to speak out about mental health issues, no matter how big or small – your Trust is here to listen.

WHAT DID WE GET UP TO?

  • Out and about – to mark this year’s national theme of nature, we encourage you to get out and about.
  • Sharing’s caring – advice and guidance will be available on how and where our you can ask for mental health help.
  • Get creative – colouring in is calming, and a proven way to help reduce anxiety; download our images now.
  • Go green – Green Ribbon Day 14th May – wear a green ribbon
  • Mental Health Toolkit

Our schools really engaged with this amazing week. They got creative with green ribbons, painted Pebbles of Positivity left around their local communities, created artistic ‘green ribbons’ as part of art classes and our students grew Sunflowers – the symbols of hope, along with a growth chart.

Our Three Themes

While we know and understand that mental health covers a huge array of conditions. Our Trust-wide mental health areas of focus are depression, self-harm, and anxiety.

Life these days seems to be harder than ever, especially as we come out of our third lockdown, there really is a host of stressors that are so new and different to anything we’ve ever known. In a 24-hour online world, we all need more support than ever before. Our week-long focus on Mental Health, in line with this awareness week, further supports our ongoing commitment to this important part of life. Well-rounded mental health sets the tone for a happier, and more balanced life to help us all enjoy living.

Our video

We all have mental health and in a nod to this many of our schools got involved with our ‘We Are One – pass it on’ Green Ribbon video, filmed to the backdrop of Dear Evan Hansen, musical.
