New Horizons Children’s Academy in Chatham is delighted after it was rated “Good” in every single category in its first Ofsted report. Maths teacher Rakesh Vashisht has been named the best in Medway at the annual Kent Teacher of the Year Awards. Rakesh, who teaches at The Victory Academy, in Chatham, was praised as an “all-round phenomenal person”, and thanked by students who described him as a “very special person who has never given up on me”. The rapid improvement of a Portsmouth secondary academy which achieved record GCSE results last summer was today confirmed by Ofsted – saying the school had been transformed by “Outstanding” leadership. Inspectors rated The Portsmouth Academy, led by Principal Natalie Sheppard and sponsored by our Trust, as “Outstanding” for its leadership and management. Parliamentary candidate for Rochester and Strood, Kelly Tolhurst, visited the high-performing Rochester Grammar School to discuss politics with sixth-form students. The Conservative candidate, who was elected to be MP for the constituency in 2015, spoke to the students about her experience in politics and the role she played in Parliament. Students and staff at All Faiths Children’s Academy are celebrating after Charlie, a profoundly deaf Year 6 student, was praised for his outstanding poetry by one of the UK’s foremost deaf poets, Richard Carter. The Maritime Academy will mean Medway children can benefit from the Thinking School education model from age four to 19. Education Secretary Justine Greening has given the go-ahead to The Maritime Academy, a new school in Medway that will build on the success of the education model pioneered by our Trust. All Faiths Children’s Academy in Medway is celebrating after being presented with an award ‘for assessed excellence in meeting quality standards across their Nurture Group provision’. The Thinking Schools Academy Trust (TSAT) today confirmed the permanent appointments of the Trust’s Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Secondary Education. The appointments of, respectively, Stuart Gardner, Lee Miller and Gwynn Bassan, mean that TSAT has a strong Executive, completed by our excellent Director of Primary Education, Claire Stevens.
