Personal Statement Advice
- Consider why you think teaching is important and your moral purpose. Secondary should also link to why their subject is important to young people.
- What research have you done that makes you well positioned to start training to teach? https://www.aft.org/sites/default/files/periodicals/Rosenshine.pdf is a good starting point. Secondary should show why their subject knowledge makes them suitable for a teaching position.
- What experiences have you had that would make you an effective teacher? There is no requirement that this be within schools, any examples of you supporting or training others is suitable.
- Why is your personality suited to teaching? For example, being organised, hard working and resilient.

Please note – we are unable to accept school qualifications that are equivalent to English as a second language at GCSE level.
