#WeAreOne: Celebrating Black History Month [Archive]

The Thinking Schools Academy Trust came together for our first #WeAreOne event of the 2022/2023 academic year, by celebrating Black History and Culture.

The Thinking Schools Academy Trust came together for our first #WeAreOne event of the 2022/2023 academic year, by celebrating Black History and Culture.

The theme for this year was Action not words. To get to a better tomorrow, we can’t just focus on the past. The past is in the past. We can acknowledge and learn from it, but to improve the future, we need action, not words. The theme is to unite everyone for a bigger purpose, demonstrating our support past the celebration of Black History Month.

We wanted to make a change that sticks.

Alongside the annual art competition, schools each made a pledge towards an action to tackle discrimination and promote equality.

Weekly Recipes

Working with Chartwells, we released weekly recipes on our website and social media. Students were able to take these home and try something new with their families.

Social Media Takeover

Students hopped onto on our schools' social media platforms and covered what Black History Month means to them and why this is an important celebration.

Trust and School Pledges

We wanted to make a change that will stick and to do this each school and the Trust penned a pledge and commitment towards an action to tackle discrimination and promote equality.
