The Gordon Children’s Academy was awash with colour and community spirit as pupils, families, and staff came together for the school’s first-ever colour run event; A vibrant sponsored run aimed at raising funds to support school improvements.
The entire school took part in the fun run, with children dashing through clouds of colour alongside their families. Unlike a traditional race, the colour run focused on fun, fitness, and togetherness rather than competition. Parents and siblings were invited to join in, making it a true community event.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of families and supporters, the school raised an impressive amount of more than £5,500. This will be matched by the school’s PTA, bringing the total to nearly £12,000. These funds will go directly towards upgrading the playground facilities to create a more engaging and enjoyable space for all pupils.
Every child who raised £10 or more received a special medal in recognition of their efforts, and the school was thrilled with the turnout and the generosity of supporters.
“This was our first time organising an event like this, and while it was a challenge, everything ran smoothly,” said Ella Martin, Deputy Headteacher who organised the event. “We’ve learned so much and are already thinking about how we can make it even bigger and better next year.” “It was fantastic to see so many families running together and enjoying the day,” Ella added. “The joy on everyone’s faces was unforgettable. We’re absolutely delighted by the support we’ve received. It will make such a difference to our school.”

With the success of this year’s colour run, The Gordon Children’s Academy is already looking forward to making it an annual tradition, bringing even more colour and community spirit to the school grounds.
