This helped him apply to become a Finance Business Partner with the Thinking Schools Academy Trust just over two years ago.
It’s here where Ben thought about how he was going to progress his career, before looking no further than a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Level 7 apprenticeship with the Thinking Schools Academy Trust.
“I got to a point in my career where now I need to look at how I’m going to excel myself to the next level, and in finance without this qualification I’d struggle to do so”, Ben said.
Explaining his reasons for completing the apprenticeship, Ben doesn’t want to stand still and wants to keep working to ensure his industry doesn’t leave him behind.
“Just more of a wider understanding of international and national accountancy practices”, Ben said when asked about what he wants to gain by the end of his journey.
Ben recognises how everyone may be at different stages of their career but was keen to promote the importance of continued professional development at the Thinking Schools Academy Trust.
“It’s always good to upskill yourself and learn new things which can be made relevant to the job, and you can challenge how we do things and push the organisation forward”, Ben said.
He went on to add: “I get time to watch the lectures and to study, and work have been supportive in that instance. My line manager has also done the course too”.
Reflecting on his experience so far, Ben said he “couldn’t have asked for anything more” about how the trust have supported him on this journey, specifically with how he gets to protect time in his schedule to get the most out of the apprenticeship.
