Teaching staff from across Kent have been praised for their work to positively impact the lives of pupils across the county, including colleagues from the Thinking Schools Academy Trust who uphold our mission to make a difference to every pupil, regardless of their individual circumstances.
The Kent Teacher of the Year Awards, which took place at Ashford International Hotel on Friday 9th May, celebrated talent and commitment in education from across the county.
These awards recognise the vital role that educators and school staff play in shaping the future of young people in Kent. Nominees were honoured in various categories, including primary, secondary, early years, non-teaching staff, and volunteers.
Congratulations to the winners from Goodwin Academy in Deal: Hilary Mercer, Kate Wratten, and Sara Richardson. Hilary was awarded East Kent School Leader of the Year and Overall Kent winner in this category. Kate received the East Kent Early Careers Teacher of the Year award, while Sara won East Kent Music Teacher of the Year.
At New Horizons Children’s Academy in Chatham, Hayley Kingsland was honoured as Medway Primary School Teacher of the Year.
The Victory Academy, which launched this year's awards following Michelle Smith's achievement as Kent Secondary Headteacher of the Year for 2024, proudly took home three awards. Rebekah Thomas won Medway Science Teacher of the Year, the school's Science Department was named Medway Team of the Year, and Dave Miller was awarded Medway Student Services Manager of the Year and Overall winner for Pastoral Care.
