Inspectors found that “children thoroughly enjoy their time at nursery and feel safe, secure and happy as staff greet them warmly” at Little Thinkers Nursery at Curledge Street Academy, following their inspection in May. This sense of belonging supports children to build confidence, curiosity and early communication skills.
Strong relationships are driving success, with Ofsted highlighting how leaders, staff and families work together to put children first. Leadership and governance were judged strong, reflecting a culture that goes beyond expectations.
The report shows how learning is brought to life through purposeful play: “Children are engaged and focused. Staff interact with and support them as they play, reducing barriers to learning well. Children delight in playing with dough and use stampers to create marks.”
Inspectors praised leadership, noting: “Leaders establish working relationships with parents and carers that prioritise children and are open and honest. Communication with parents is daily and purposeful…” and “Leaders strive to ensure all children… receive high-quality care. Staff wellbeing is a priority.”
Children make steady progress, with Ofsted stating they “generally progress well from their starting points” and “develop confidence and show focus in their learning.” A strong focus on communication was also highlighted, with a curriculum “full of language.”
Inclusion is a clear strength. “Children show a real sense of belonging… and clearly feel safe, secure and well cared for,” with strong partnerships helping to remove barriers to learning.
